Science

What is Science? For many it is simply the technical/logical aspect of how things work, i.e. cell structure, medicine, weather patterns, and everything else that can be explored. The fact is, though, there are two halves of science: the technical and the theoretical.

To explore the technical for a moment, we know that medicine, for instance, works. If I get sick, I will pray for my healing, I will have others pray for my healing, and if I don’t seem to be getting better, I will go to the doctor. It’s not a lack of faith, but rather a belief that maybe He wants me to go there to be healed, instead of supernatural healing. And honestly, there is nothing wrong with taking advantage of the services we have available, in regards to that. On the other hand, we have things like carbon dating, the Big Bang, Evolution, etc. Things that “prove” there is no God and/or the Bible is wrong. This is the theoretical aspect I’m talking about today.

As much as they would deny it, Science is a religion, just like Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, etc. Because, you have to ask: what defines a religion? Religion is what you put your faith in and believe in. It’s the mantra you live by. If you believe in the Big Bang over the Creation, you put your faith in the word of Science over the word of the Prophets, and that is religion.

As much as they cite their theories and logic, I have seen miracles that science can’t explain. I know in my heart what I believe is right because I have been shown things that absolutely cannot be coincidence. I have heard prophecies that later came true, I have seen healing, and I know better than to be convinced what I believe is a lie because a stranger told me so.

Is it absurd to believe in God? Well, kind of, yes. That’s really the point. It’s about having faith in something we cannot simply prove. Despite all that I’ve seen, I can’t prove any of it. It’s all my word against theirs. I can’t give you undeniable proof that God is real, although within myself there is no doubt at all.

In conclusion, though, I posit that it’s hypocritical to believe in the doctrine of Science so wholeheartedly, especially to those that mock Christians for the same faith. Am I saying to stop going to the doctor? No! Am I saying that Chemistry is a lie? No! I’m simply saying that the Anti-Christian doctrine of Science is wrong and/or lies and that Science itself is just as much a religion as the things they mock. We, as Christians, believe in Jesus Christ, while they, as men and women of science, believe in the power of mankind. Like Bob Dylan said, “You’ve gotta serve somebody.

“Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;” (Corinthians 3:18-21).
